From the BBC:

New companion is revealed.

Newcomer Freema Agyeman will play the Doctor's latest companion, Martha Jones.

Doctor Who fans have already met Agyeman as Adeola in episode 12 of the current series of Doctor Who but, as viewers will have seen last Saturday evening, this character suffered a terrible fate at the hands of the Cybermen.

Freema will be playing a brand new character in series three.

Executive producer/writer Russell T Davies says: "The search for a new companion had been underway for some time when I first saw Freema Agyeman, she had come in to audition for the part of Adeola in series two.

"Watching her during filming confirmed what an exciting new talent she was, so under cover of darkness we called her back in to audition with David for the role of the new companion.

"It was an immediate and sensational combination, and her range, presence and charm blew us all away.

"David and Freema are terrific together, and we're delighted to have chosen her to join the Doctor for more adventures in time and space.

"The first scripts have been written, and Martha's a brilliant addition to the TARDIS crew, the perfect foil for the Doctor.

"Martha won't be featured in this year's Christmas special; we've got another surprise in store for that."

Freema Agyeman says: "I've been keeping this secret from my friends for months - it's been driving me mad!

"Auditioning with David in secret down in Cardiff was unbelievable, but I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd actually become the new companion.

"Billie rightfully built up an amazing fan base and she will be missed, but I hope the fans are willing to go on new adventures with me.

"It still hasn't quite sunk in, I'm sure it will slam home first day on set when I'm stood gazing at David Tennant!"

David Tennant adds: "Freema was a joy to work with in episode 12 of the current series. She is not only very talented and very beautiful, she's great fun and I'm delighted she's coming on board the TARDIS full time.

"I can't wait to welcome her into the Who family."

Freema Agyeman is 27 years old and was born and brought up in London.

A new 13-part adventure and Christmas special begins filming in Cardiff in the summer for transmission on BBC ONE.

Q's Thoughts

FANTASTIC! Rose had started to irritate me. Still, she looks good and can't wait to see her in action!

I just got through watching "Army of Ghosts", the first part of the Doctor Who season finale.

Two words for ya:

I can't wait for next week!

Actually, that's not entirely true. I love them because, with their pence-pinching, corner-cutting, tightpurse ways, shows have to rely on actors and fantastic writing to deliver a quality show. And they've succeeded, in a lot of ways. Chef!, Are You Being Served? and 'Allo, 'Allo! are some of my favorite shows. And, unless you've been living under a rock for the past two years, you know that Doctor Who is my most favorite...favoritest?...:: pauses ::...

...Most favorite show.

That being said, I hate them because with all of their cost-cutting, they charge an arm, leg & piece of ass to license their shows out and/or sell the DVD sets. Wanna know what I'm talking about? Here.

Original price of a hundred dollars?! That's insane! God, I gotta get a DVD burner!

Who wants the Doctor Who theme sheet music? Any takers?

A collection of images I've absconded from the 'Net. I'll have to get around to crediting and such...if I can just remember where I got them from...:: chuckles ::

The original sonic screwdriver!
Gotta love that retro look!

Another TARDIS image.

And I absolutely LOVE this image! FANTASTIC!

Prepare to laugh your asses off. Various audio and video clips from a show called "Dead Ringers".
Jon Culshaw does an excellent Tom Baker (the Fourth Doctor).

Beforewarned, however, that some of the audio and video clips, particularly the "Pakistani Dalek" has a great deal of static and you can barely make out the dialogue. It's hilarious, nonetheless.

So, I downlo-...er...obtained...(Yeah, I like that one better. "Obtained". Yeah, yeah, that's good.) So, I obtained... ::wink, wink:: a copy of 1965's "Dr. Who and the Daleks" today. It's very...60's. I mean, honestly, who would have thought that Daleks used lava lamps on Skaro, eh? Advanced Dalek technology, my ass! And such wonderful Dalek colors, too!

I haven't watched it all the way through since I...obtained...a copy of "Along Came Polly" and got distracted with it. I will say this, though:

Poor Peter Cushing. I mean, I'm glad that he could bounce back as Grand Moff Tarkin, but...my God...This movie is HILARIOUS...and it's not supposed to be!

I'm going to bed.

It's the Ten Doctors and their regeneration effects...(The old guy with the white hair is the First Doctor).

Save it to your hard drives, peeps!

All right, so some of you know my obsession with finding the "missing 8th" of the Doctor Who theme. It would appear that I am in error. It was, in actuality, a "missing middle 8th". I wondered what the hell it was, wracking my brain. Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] taliesinsmuse, [livejournal.com profile] magistar, [livejournal.com profile] beanie1125 and [livejournal.com profile] celticshrew for their input. However, I've FOUND IT!

In the traditional Doctor Who arrangement, there is a bridge (read "thirty-two-bar form" ("AABA")) after the main sequence of music. If you listen closely to the Seventh Doctor's theme, around 0:21, you'll hear the middle 8th. That sequence was taken out of the Ninth Doctor's theme, BUT it was restored to the theme of the Tenth Doctor (who still uses the same opening theme as the Ninth Doctor). You can hear it at the end of the episode "New Earth" (which I have, by the way ;-) ).

I know: geek!

But...I'm sexy geek!
